Ricky Lee Richards also known as ‘RickyRichardsTV’ on Youtube is by far a huge inspiration and we love him! He provides such great content on all of his social media platforms. In his Youtube videos he creates content for all such as advice, comedy, vlogs, fashion videos and short films. Quite frankly he does it all!

Ricky’s fashion sense is one to be inspired by; with a simplicity and usual choice of a monochromatic colour scheme his outfits are put together perfectly.

However, we have been mostly inspired by his ‘ThePeopleOfToday’ series he has created on Instagram. In this series he snaps pictures of people and captions it with a chat he’s had about their life stories or a small anecdote. Varieties of people have appeared and shared their stories and inspired us all. We asked Ricky a few questions regarding this idea and received some interesting answers.

VY:UK Where do you get your fashion inspiration?

I honestly get my fashion inspiration from Tumblr mostly. Also just being in the City and taking it all in.

VY:UK What gave you the idea?

The idea literally came from myself when I was walking to the tube station. I had my coffee in my hand and sat next to this really really nice lady from Japan. We got talking about her life and her reasons for being in the Uk. After 30mins worth of talking, I literally asked "I want to start this new thing called The People Of Today (TPOT) and she was more then happy to be part of it. So literally that moment right there, made me come up with new idea for my Instagram and social platforms.

It was so nice and refreshing and in-fact very inspiring me strangers who are willing to share their own stories to the world. Of course I show and tell them where it is all going etc. So the idea just started from the first lady. She made realise there is so much good in the world.

VY:UK What is your aim?

I've been asked this before. I have one simple aim. Meet as many people as I can over the time I do TPOT and share their own stories. Simple as that.

VY:UK What have you learnt?

I have learnt, never ever make quick judgements. Everyone in this world deserve a chance to be listened too. Of course I don't always get good luck with people and a lot of people turn me down. But that doesn't defeat me at all. I have also learnt, there is so much hope in this world. So many people have endure love, pain & challenges in there life time. You'll be surprised how similar we all are.
