2015 saw the injection of all things glitter into personal style and I loved every second of it. From glitter brows to glitter as a highlight it was everywhere and it what came with it was the explosion of using make-up not just as an everyday cover up, but as an accessory. It was the year that make-up became an even bigger tool to express individuality.

The power that came with the use of glitter is what is most important because it anchored in this idea that make-up can be used to in power instead of degrade the user. That by going against regular beauty norms they are breaking the stereotypical use of make-up which was to cover and not highlight our flaws and differences. Which is exactly what the glitter seems to be bringing for women and men everywhere. Another wonderful thing about the glitter trend is the introduction and acceptance of men wearing and absolutely rocking make-up too.

The fact that this trend is so vibrant also expresses just how beautifully make-up has evolved and how quickly we are starting to see changes within the beauty industry that can start to encourage people everywhere to engage in a more daring self and go against the original meaning of what make-up was.
