Fashion week is a week where our world’s greatest and most fabulous designers come together and show all us fashion followers what they have created. But it’s also a time for fresh faced artists to come into the spotlight and make a beautiful impression on us critical fashion folk.
This Paris Fashion Week brought forward Jacquemus, a French male designer who at only 21 years old is still creating soulful and nostalgic pieces with such elegance.
Focusing solely on his collection “Le Nez Rouge” translating into The Red Nose is a collection surrounding the freedom and beauty of being a child. With his campaign ad for this collection being a childhood photo of him and him also using his younger cousin in the show pushing a large red ball round the stage it’s expected his pieces would be playful and full of colour.
Favourite pieces throughout the whole show are items that are so accessible to wear, a total opposite to usual runway shows. Jacquemus has this focus on simplicity with added details of folded pieces of material or a tiny bow, everything is layered and messy but all the pieces still give a refined feel about them. Essentially these are mature clothes with childlike elements added to them.
If we listen to Jacquemus’ words of “there needs to be less industry and more poetry” it’s obvious that his mantra is apparent within his work and if he keeps moving through the industry with that in mind, I can only imagine that his work will grow.
Take a look at some snaps from the collection and my favourite pieces.
