Taylor-Dion Rumble is an 18 year old freelance writer based in London who can also be seen expressing her passion for style on her little piece of the internet, xotdr.com, and if you know the blogging world then you should know her blog and if you don’t, I suggest you stop reading this and start reading through all the empowering posts that Taylor shares with the world. Looking through Taylor’s twitter and Instagram it’s so obvious that this chick eats, sleeps and breathes fashion. And as long as she does, we will all be along for the ride just waiting for her posts to arrive. With Taylor’s follower count rapidly increasing, it’s amazing to think that her blog began just as purely a creative outlet to illustrate her interest in everything fashion related,
“I didn’t really have many friends that were into the same styles and designers I admired; so the internet felt like the only place I could communicate my opinions”
and it’s done that and more for Taylor. Regarding her position as a freelance writer, it has become obvious that this girl has some serious willpower and ambition, something not seen too often within the blogging world. Too many bloggers are seen creating platforms for popularity and fame but that is most definitely not Taylor, having had an ambition to work within the media since high school, she constantly shows true and honest opinions within her work and consistently demonstrates her potential to be able to create inspirational and wonderful pieces.
Now, every blogger has their own unique story of how they brought themselves into the internet community and we are about to learn Taylor’s and more;
VY:UK What was your initial aim for 'XO, TDR' and do you have any future aims for what you want your blog to be?
I guess my aim was to express my thoughts on the fashion world. At the time, I didn’t really have many friends that were into the same styles and designers I admired; so the internet felt like the only place I could communicate my opinions. Regarding my future aims, I don’t really desire my blog to turn into a full-time career as such. It’s a hobby for me and something I really enjoy doing; I just want my blog to be a creative, free-thinking outlet for me to do whatever and write whatever I want.
VY:UK What influenced you to create this type of platform for yourself?
This is going to sound so silly but….. TV. I’ve always loved fashion and because I use to have braces, I felt like I had a personal connection with ‘Ugly Betty’, ha-ha! But another show that played a key role in my blogging journey was ‘Gossip Girl’, which revolves around the lives of rich young adults in New York; whose lives are documented on a blog – I became so obsessed with the show, it inspired me to create the blog and for the first few months all I was blogging about was the amazing costumes on the show.. Proper fan girl antics!
VY:UK What have you learnt from being within this part of the fashion world?
One lesson I’m still learning, is to embrace what you have and be confident in your uniqueness. By being yourself, you put something wonderful in the world that wasn’t there before.
VY:UK Your style is incredibly original, where does your inspiration come from?
Thank you so much! And the internet. I am addicted to Pinterest; it’s so underrated! I have literally saved thousands of street style images from there.
VY:UK Do you have any style icons?
Yes – loads! I love Solange’s ability to mix colours so confidently. Olivia Palermo and Julia Sarr-Jamois mix different textures so effortlessly and the Olsens never, ever get it wrong for me.
VY:UK Describe your style in three words...
Minimal. Comfortable. Evolving.
VY:UK What's your favourite thing about blogging?
Being able to express myself freely, without limitations and being able to connect with such amazing people.
VY:UK What have you gained from your blog?
I’ve been blogging for a few years now; so I’m kind of a social media/SEO nerd – which is a highly sought after skill within the industry and has helped me greatly within the working world! I’ve also gained some amazing friends whom I met at either blogging events or London Fashion Week.
