The thing about autumn is that, like New Year, people perceive this time of year as a period to re-invent themselves, to make positive changes to their lives and for the fashion world, this basically means preparing our summer wardrobe for the transition into the autumn and winter months. There has been many different approaches for AW this year meaning there will be plenty different possibilities for each individual helping to make AW accessible for all styles.
AW 2014 is all about being relaxed, effortless but daring in our style choices making this season so beautifully minimalistic but with a boyish charm. Think pale blues, soft greys and maybe try hunting down your adidas classic trainers to create the perfect look. The high street stores have adopted the trends of black, grey and white palettes with hints of pale pastel knits and mountains of denim resulting in a 90’s feel to every outfit which I personally love and can’t wait to style. My favourite displays have to be Topshop and River Island which is surprisingly different for me as I’m used to Urban Outfitters serving my every fashion desire but this season, those shops have brought pieces that can really help complete my AW wardrobe.
If we look to towards the beauty that is the Chanel catwalk for AW we can see these trends floating down the runway but also the added use of embellishments, metallic and more muted colours highlighting the general simplicity that will be AW 14 this year.
Having the crazy summer trends of neon and aztec now over and done with until next year feels good as we can move onto the serenity that will AW and for me, nothing sounds better than that.
