The Dream That is McQueen

Everyone knows McQueen for the rule breaking wonder that he was. His designs reached new levels of originality and rebellion “That’s what I’m here for, to demolish the rules but to keep tradition”. McQueen to me is somewhat different to the other designers, he had made the connections from a young age that he would be a big part of the fashion world when he grew up, which is refreshing to hear opposed to others who are technically ‘discovered’. McQueen had a goal and he reached his goal and even more. He created a rebellion.

Leaving school with only one qualification, that obviously being art, he still went onto to be one of the biggest names in 21st century fashion, bringing his Scottish heritage and passion along with him. Each of his constructions had a sense of British-ness, masculinity and individuality making all his work almost autobiographical and awe-inspiring.

His death hit the fashion world with a sharp pinch, a tragic death that came too soon for the wonderful star struck designer. He gave fashion an untouchable and irreplaceable edge and even in death, his work is still admired and spoke about. For one person’s work to still inspire many young designers even years after his death shows the true impact that McQueen had on not only the fashion world, but the new generations of designers.

McQueen will forever be a true British inspiration.
